The Huxley: High Performance Audio Meets Luxury Lounge

By Travis Bernard

Located at the epicenter of Washington, DC is an old TV studio that’s been transformed into the hottest new lounge in the area. The Huxley is a 4,600 square foot venue that attracts energetic and high-end clientele, and it is the ideal spot for corporate and private events. From the 14-foot ceilings and polished wood floors to the seven-foot gold plated grand chandelier, everything about this venue is luxurious and spacious. The Huxley is divided into two main areas: the ballroom and the library. The ballroom is meant to resemble a Vegas or Miami club, whereas the library offers a cozy vibe with dimmer lighting. For added exclusivity there’s a tough door policy, so don’t expect to get into the venue without being on the list. They’ve already hosted a GQ party, and celebrities like LeBron James stopped by for the venue’s grand opening. Although it is his first venue in DC, club owner Ryan Seelbach calls The Huxley his “dream venue” and a true “game changer.”

The look and feel of the venue is the perfect complement to the top-notch sound system at The Huxley. Designed by ITI Audio, the sound system is high energy and extremely well-tuned. In the ballroom you can hear house and dance music bumping from a top-notch Martin Audio setup that includes:

• 2 x Martin Audio H3H
• 3 x Martin Audio AQ15
• 2 x Martin Audio WS218X
• 5 x Crown XTI6000
• 1 x BSS Soundweb London BLU-100

In the library you will typically hear mashups or top 40 tunes. Although the ballroom has the more powerful of the two systems, the library also boasts an impressive setup:

• 8 x Martin Audio X12
• 2 x Martin Audio WS18X
• 3 x XTI6000

Seelbach notes that he picked ITI Audio for the sound system at The Huxley because he was blown away by the team’s prior work at DC clubs, including U Street Music Hall and Ibiza. He explains, ITI Audio has “awesome products on the market, and they are very accessible people.” He also compliments the team at ITI Audio for their great customer service and mentions, “it was very smooth working with them.”

We’re thoroughly impressed by the finished sound system, as well as the entire design of the venue. If you have a chance to check out The Huxley, let us know what you think of the sound. We’re always excited to hear from our fans.

The Huxley is located at 1730 M Street NW.
